A study conducted by the Partnership on AI’s DEI Workstream brings forward an important dimension to any work in HCAI : cultural change in organizations. Indeed, whilst the study aimed at illustrating the reality experienced by people from marginalized groups, the study reminds us of the central role played by organizations’ EDI strategies in ensuring a human-centered AI. As the study reveals, these failing strategies prevent us from having a diverse and inclusive pool of talents from which, we know, the AI industry would gain a lot and from which HCAI is dependent.
